Preakness Early Look
Here you go B.St...
Horses slated to run (may be others):
Justify: Horse to beat. Bruised hoof after Derby...supposedly good to go. Derby was slow. WinStar-China Horse Club
Quip: Intriguing. Won the Tampa Bay Derby and was second to Magnum Moon in the Arkansas Derby. Also owned by WinStar. In fact, Quip's trainer, Brisset, was training Justify until Justify was handed over to Bouncy Bob Baffert. Word is that WinStar put Quip in this race to increase chances of a 1-2 finish or a 1 if Justify falters.
Good Magic: Discount Good Magic at your peril. He's been discounted in his last two races. He ended up winning the Bluegrass and finishing a driving second at the Kentucky Derby.
Lone Sailor: Lots of people are talking of him being a great longshot, but I've seen nothing in his 8 races that warrant such optimism. He did finish ahead of Bravazo in one of their two races together.
Bravazo: D. Wayne has two horses here. Won the Risen Star. With his buddy, Sporting Chance, running interference, Bravazo may get the wire from behind
Sporting Chance: Race Fodder.
Tenfold: He'll be the sexy pick, but I see him as a poor man's Quip.
Diamond King: Intriguing. Won the Tesio at Laurel last time out. Best success has been at 1 mile or less.
At this point, I'd be looking at putting Justify atop with Quip/Good Magic
That being said, Sporting Chance will win.
